#CurricCon14 was held on Wednesday 19th November in the refectory and took the format of a mini conference related to curriculum transformation. The specific themes were project based learning, work experience (and related activities) and learning companies.

3.25 – 3.45pm         Session 1

  • A5 Big Picture Learning – Alex Warner- Learn about what an awareness of ‘Big Picture Learning’ could do for your courses and your curriculum.
  • B3 An established learning company, Francesco’s – Alison Smith- Learn all about learning companies from an established one at the College
  • B8 Google & Project Based Learning – Bev de Schoolmeester- Learn about an approach to Project Based Learning in the curriculum and how Google has been used to facilitate this transformational approach to learning.
  • B11 Work experience with entry level learners – Ian Edwards-Heeks. Click here for resources– Learn from the success of work experience placements in the motor vehicle department.
  • B16/2 Planning Community Projects – Isla Goldsmith- Learn about the process of planning a community project; through recognising opportunities, contacting the organisations, preparing learners appropriately and reflecting on learning.
  • The Shop Work experience and learning companies in LLDD – Michelle Parks- Come along to this workshop and learn how work-based opportunities are offered to learners in a variety of different ways.
  • B50 An emerging learning company, Reading Studio – Paul Stacey- Attend this informal session, armed with your questions for Paul about the trials and successes of starting a learning company.
  • B2 Approaches to planning projects – Rachel George- Attend this workshop to learn and practice approaches to planning a project within your curriculum.
3.50 – 4.10pm           Session 2
